an eye in the sky.

ugh. today was crazy busy at the office and at 5:30, i think i'll still be here for a bit.

at least i stumbled upon these absolutely stunning aerial photos of our great planet, mama earth. check 'em out here.

and, for good measure, here's the view outside my office window right now as i buckle back down to work for the evening - if you must work late, it's grand to do so with a great view.

hello, gorgeous.

took a little stroll at lunch today. could the weather be any more perfect?

answer: no.

happy monday

if you haven't met marcel the shell w/ shoes on yet, you're in for a treat. happy monday.

cozy sunday dinner

mmmm. lemme tell you 'bout my favorite neighborhood place. cozy noodles & rice.

cozy is perfect for so many reasons. it's super cheap (like 8 bucks an entree!). it's super close (like one block from my apt!). the decor (shelves lined with vintage toys!) is totally whimsical. and, most importantly, it's delicious.

my lovely boyfriend evan and i are frequent cozy diners, especially on days we've gone to cubs games (when the already cheap meals are buy one, get one free when you show your ticket!).

this is evan, sporting his weekend mustache. couldn't resist.
having attended yesterday's game, we had a late-night dinner at cozy (natch). 99 percent of the time we go, i get the mild thai curry (which i season to just the right level of heat with sriracha - much prefer to be in control of my own spices). the yellow curry is perfectly seasoned, with a touch of sweetness. it comes in a giant bowl w/ white rice and includes chicken, potatoes and green peas (peas - my favorite!).

last night, though, i was in the mood for something different. i opted for the crispy pad see ewe w/ shrimp and ohmygoodness, it was delicious. shrimp and broccoli were sauteed in a sweetly spicy soy-based sauce and tossed over a plate of deep fried wide rice noodles. (still feeling a little rough from the previous evening's rooftop wine fest, a plate of deep fried noodles was exactly what the doctor ordered.)

evan wasn't too thrilled with his dumpling noodles - not enough food for my oversized man. neither of us are fans of brothy dishes (i know a perfect soup is the mark of a good chef! i don't care! i want substance!). do not recommend.
a quick walk home, followed by an episode of mad men on the couch was the perfect end to the weekend.

bring it, monday.

love & gluttony justify everything...

...so says mr. oscar wilde - and i couldn't agree more.

i'm a 27-year-old, pr-working, restaurant-loving, online shopping-obsessed gal who's lucky enough to have landed in the greatest, windiest, foodiest city of them all - chicago.

i spend my days behind a desk spreading the word about a national fast food chain, a family-friendly bevvie and deodorant.

i spend my nights/weekends exploring my great city, trying to dine at all of the oh-so-delicious restaurants it has to offer and spending time with my favorite people.

here you'll find me chronicling my adventures in the city, showing off the establishments at which i love to eat (and drink) and sharing the things that make me the happiest.

with that in mind, here's my weekend, both highs and lows, in no particular order.

~ ate dinner on a boat (i was on a boat!) on lake michigan

~ fell asleep at 9:30 p.m.

~ witnessed lou piniella's last ever game as a manager at wrigley field (or anywhere)

~ had such a violent caffeine crash that i had to sit down on the side of the sidewalk for fear of passing out

~ ate a bacon flight (jalapeno, honey, mesquite, maple pepper & cherry smoked. thankyouverymuch.)

~ sat on a rooftop, with a view of the city skyline, drinking red wine out of a solo cup and laughing 'til i cried

cheers to a new week.
